Love, as they say, makes the world go round.' They also argue that true love seldom goes smoothly. This is certainly true of Marvel Universe's relationship-based, starting with the flagship title The Fantastic Four, which broke from the company's tradition of publishing monster titles to show a family of explorers.

The family dynamics involving these four personalities brought something new to the comics pages— a romance between an aloof scientist and a young woman who grew up to learn the full extent of her power, a flawed thing that couldn't fully believe in the love he found, a brash young man who often allows his heart to override his common feeling.

The new and different approach to stories brought a variety of interactions to life that differentiated the evolving Marvel Universe, romantic and otherwise. Happy marriages, bitter breakups, love triangles, surprise marriages and covert affairs. At least one stalker was looking for her twisted revenge at gunpoint.

There are mothers and kids who have a healthy connection with each other — and those who learn about their relationships with each other late in life. And there are men like brothers who just can't see eye-to-eye, and there's a bitter discussion between them that draws long-standing interactions throughout the world's superhero culture, wrecking painfully, as each is forced to take sides. The Marvel Universe has always altered 19 relationships here, and one that has almost destroyed it.
