For those of us who appreciate the woods, trees are a constant source of wonder. Wherever you are, mighty forest giants make you feel tiny, but the remainder are some dwarf. Some of the largest trees on Earth can be found in the inaccessible tropics of Borneo and the ancient forests of Tasmania. More than 20 stories high are the tallest trees in Europe, but they are all non-native species from the globe's wilder fields.

But none of these can match the magnificent grandeur and cathedral awe of the California coast's old-growth tree and sequoia trees— the ancient kings of the forest. There are true giants in these forests. All of them's grandpa, a beautiful redwood coast called Hyperion, is 20 meters above London's Big Ben or the Statue of Liberty in New York.

It's hard to comprehend the true scale of these towering titans, but hopefully this infographic can assist our little human minds know the trees ' enormity.
