The recent wildfires in California and the Amazon jungle have made us all stand together in solidarity and pray for the area's innocent victims. And, as compared to the current blazes that have ravaged a good portion of Australia, those fires affected a relatively smaller piece of land.

As of this writing, nearly 12 million acres of land in Australia have been burnt from the fire that began in the last months of 2019. Authorities also estimate that the accident killed nearly half a billion animals while losing many lives and homes.

The bushfires grew more severe amid Australia's heatwave and draught conditions, according to The NewYork Times. Unfortunately, as the weather in the continent gets warmer the fires are expected to escalate further. Scientists also predict that fires in connection with climate change will become more frequent and severe around the world.

The firefighters managed to put out the fires in California while at least the blazes in Amazon were reduced. Fires have also engulfed more than 6 million acres of land in remote areas of northern Russia, but most of the area was scarcely populated–so no causalities have been reported.
