Climate Change Quality Index 2020 is published by the New Climate Institute, the Climate Action Network and the German watch. The study scores 57 countries on their climate change policies and analyses their pollution, electricity use and renewable energy initiatives.

The study lists Portugal and Finland as the top-performing climate-change policy countries while Australia is at the end of the spectrum for the worst results. The Morrison Government has become globally' regressive power,' according to the report.

Likewise, the critics argue that the United States is also regressing under President Trump's leadership, who pulled his country out of the Paris agreement. The Paris agreement, in conjunction with the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, seeks to combat global warming and other greenhouse gas emission impacts. As of 2019 the Paris Agreement was signed by 196 countries and the European Union.
