With the amount of jobs available declining and rising daily commutes, many Americans are getting tired of all the extra driving time needed to get to work. The typical national commute is 26 minutes, adding an extra hour to an already long work day. Wouldn't the dream be a 10 minute train commute?

It's possible but most likely you're going to have to move to a major metropolitan area to make it a reality. It infographic shares the results of a study in 49 of the largest metropolitan areas in the United States, which measured the number of jobs reachable by foot or mass transit in 10 minutes.

It even compares the number of jobs that can be reached in 20-60 minutes as well, to get a better idea of the number of jobs that residents can easily find in each of the subway areas. It's no surprise that residents of New York City, 30 percent of whom make use of the city's mass transit system, have the most jobs in the shortest commute times available.
