Each American family, while celebrating on the same day (December 25), has its own special tradition to observe at Christmas. Whether it's some specific food, nighttime carol singing, leaving a plate of cookies for Santa, or attending the annual Christmas Mass–customs vary by ethnicity, culture, and values.

But there are, of course, some Christmas traditions that are an essential part of every family. This includes primarily picking and decorating a tree, giving presents, and hanging storage.

Statista also conducted a Holiday Survey, where they asked about the basics of this holiday for more than 1,000 people. As predicted, 64% of Americans believe that the' tree' is the most important part of Christmas while watching holiday movies tops the list of 56% of respondents.

When asked about the things they're looking forward to during the holidays, nearly 83% of survey participants said they're eager to spend quality time with their family and friends. Americans also said they enjoy giving, rather than receiving, presents to their loved ones.
