When it seems as if green space is rapidly disappearing, we can count on the various state parks and national parks through the United States to be there when we need an escape into the wild. The nation's 61 national parks are the more well known and spoken about these two forms of parks, but did you know there's more than 3,700 state parks throughout the US as well!?

That is an average of 74 government parks per province! California, New York and Washington each boasts over 200 state parks, with California leading the pack with 270 of its own. California can also boast that its state also has the most national parks within its boundaries, with 9 out of 61 covering more than 6.3 million hectares.
