Couples should have at least 5 positive interactions for each negative interaction, as gratitude and empathy play roles in promoting engagement.

Although fighting in a relationship is normal, science says there is a right way to go about it. A fight is expected to last no more than ten minutes. Studies also show that when they discuss things right after the war, couples are 10 times more likely to be happy.

And what does science say in a happy relationship about the role of sex?It doesn't come as a surprise having sex is important. Another study showed that people with sex were 44 percent happier at least once a week than those who don't.
