The Elon University in North Carolina recently conducted a survey and during the ongoing coronavirus, Americans were asked about their key concern.

More than 78 per cent of Americans said their main concern in their response is their family's health and well-being. Since the virus is known to mainly affect the elderly, small children, and people with low immunity – Americans worry about their family members catching the disease.

Political and economic apprehension was second among Americans on the list. 74.4 per cent of Americans said they are concerned about the effects this will have on their personal finances, according to the study.

Many issues raised by Americans included spreading the infection to others, contracting it on their own, becoming critically ill, and having to go to work during these periods.

The coronavirus is a respiratory disease that can affect a person through close contact, touching the same surface and producing droplets while coughing and sneezing. The pandemic, initially detected in China's district of Wuhan in December 2019, has affected more than 287,000 people worldwide with 11,890 deaths.

In addition to the health risk, the virus has significantly affected the world's economic situation. Because avoidance is the best way to remain healthy from the COVID-19, government and health authorities are advising their people to stay home and avoid going to public places like school, work, and social gatherings. As a result, the abrupt closing of businesses causes many people to lose their jobs and sources of income.
