You Can Now Create 3d Photos on Facebook From 2d Images #Article

Facebook has launched a new feature that allows users to convert 2D images to 3D images, thanks to the ability of Facebook to simulate image depth.

Facebook has 3D options which it launched for the first time in 2018. This had launched posts of 3D images back then and published the same for Stories later on. But until now, in high-end devices, Facebook had used multi-camera features to enable 3D depths of any image. And now with this new addition, any computer will be able to do so.

Facebook states:

"The 3D Photos feature [hitherto] relied on the dual-lens" portrait mode "capabilities available only on new, higher-end smartphones, so it was not available on traditional mobile devices with a single, rear-facing camera. In order to introduce this new visual format to more users, we used state-of - the-art machine learning techniques to create 3D images from virtually any standard 2D image.

The first thing you need to do if you want to try out the addition is to upgrade to the new edition of Facebook. Tap' What's on Your Mind' next?Turn on your News and go through the possibilities. You will see an option to add' 3D picture,' once you tap that you will be taken to the gallery of your computer from which you can pick an image. Pick the image of your choosing and it will be transformed to 3D by Facebook.

While it is not completely 3D, and is more like a 3D simulation, it gives a similar effect when tilting the computer.

Facebook used image recognition and object detection on multiple image samples to bring the choice to life.

Facebook's latest technological achievement will make your posts look more interesting. And we should expect Facebook to dive further into AR and VR in the future, with more developments in this field.
