The COVID-19 shutdown is entering its second month in the US and the flattening curves are urging the Americans to 'reopen' some of the states to make their economy and jobs easier.

However, the documents obtained from the Center for Public Integrity show 'we are not out of the woods.' The reopening will cause more than 300,000 more deaths, according to federal health officials' figures. This figure is five times higher than the existing government estimate of 60,000 with strictly applied social distancing steps.

In addition, the documents show certain possibilities that can decrease or increase deaths if protocols of social distance stop. This involves two scenarios involving COVID-19 with moderate severity and transmission rate, where different rates of asymptomatic transmission may result in deaths in the range of 90,000 to 150,000.

On the other hand, if the rates of COVID-19 exceed a high degree of intensity and transmission, death toll in the US will exceed between 1.1 and 1.8 million.

The report came after new instructions were released by President Donald Trump to loosen the lockdown. Several governors have mirrored his agenda and began preparing to reopen several businesses by the end of April as demonstrators began lining up on the streets with a chant to 'shut down the shutdown,' which meant economic hardship due to the lockout.

As of Saturday, the United States of America had 927,000 confirmed coronavirus diagnoses of cases that occur in all 50 states. Health officials note that the American epidemic is far from over. They also claim to have restricted testing capacities and will offer catastrophic results by reopening the states in this situation.
