Deep Work Summary: How to Focus amidst a World of Distraction World By Cal Newport #infographic

Newport should take specific attention on how to deal with them every so often enormous amount of daily emails that we get hold of. He describes e-mail as a particularly insidious form of shallow work because it "provides you with a regular flow of distractions."

He sets out a range of techniques in the book which he uses for my part in dealing with email. The one I find most sensible and helpful to put into practice, though, is his advice to "do extra research" while answering an email. Here he recommends concentrating on generating "process-centered" emails, rather than grabbing a fast response that is likely to lead to a series of equally lower fashion emails back and forth. You must intentionally shut down the loop of verbal exchange as soon as possible when drafting a procedure centric answer to an email.
