Faced with adversity, the leaders can struggle to manage their teams effectively.

Before the COVID-19 outbreak, over half of all professionals worldwide were working remotely at least 2.5 days a week. Since then this has changed dramatically, with 88 per cent of firms now requiring that their employees operate from home and impose social distance.

Leaders must adapt to a more flexible workplace and create a culture of accountability so their organization can successfully weather the COVID-19 storm.

As the workforce pivots to remote work arrangements, the benefits of flexible labor policies are coming into sharper focus.

Research shows that these policies will reduce payroll costs , reduce commute times and improve employee satisfaction in addition to recruiting top talent. The shift to remote work could also boost the US economy by $4.5 trillion per year by 2030.

Yet achieving these benefits requires accountability from everyone within an organization, which can become difficult to manage, particularly in a-virtual world.
