If it comes to attracting multinationals to actively transfer their profits from their native, high-tax nations, it's not considered to do so on such a scale as Ireland anywhere in the world. Tech giants Apple, Google, Facebook all benefit from favorable conditions in the region, collectively booking tens of billions of dollars in revenues per year. In 2017, it resulted in revenue of $126.2 billion and a net tax profit of $6.2 billion for Ireland-67 per cent of all corporate tax receipts.

Researchers estimate that about 40 per cent of all corporate income is shifted to tax havens annually. Although the countries listed in this chart are the beneficiaries of this corporate behaviour, it has contributed more than $700 billion in lost income for so-called 'high-tax' countries. The biggest hit in 2017 was Germany, where 26% of corporate tax revenue traveled beyond its borders. Similarly, although the US lost 19 per cent, the UK lost 25 per cent.
