Who Is Driving Investment in Renewable Energy? #infographic

Media reports in Europe suggest that investment particularly in wind power has declined. Energy expert Professor Dr. Ulf Moslener from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management relates this to the fact that investors do not fully believe in the long-term viability of renewable power generation in the existing market environment and organization. Germany, once a poster child of renewable energy policy, performs especially poorly on these investments in wind power due to complicated approval processes that often discourage investors from doing so.

Over the last decade global investment in renewable energy has nearly doubled. During this time , Europe has lost its status as a top renewables investor, being overtaken by China and the United States. According to a Bloomberg New Energy Finance report, the U.N. Investment in China nearly tripled between 2009 and 2019, and the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. The data includes corporate and government R&A spending, investment in venture capital, private equity, and public markets, as well as money invested on renewable energy projects, and other such properties, the latter reflecting the largest share of global investment.
