Trump's involved history with farmers and ranchers during his first term has yielded mixed results for the industry. His trade agreements with China opened the door for more exports and foreign trade, but tariffs imposed in reaction to Trump's tariffs have cost farmers billions of dollars in revenue notoriously. Generally speaking, while Trump's intervention in the agricultural sector has caused prices to fluctuate dramatically, what keeps many farmers interested in his second term is his general stance against environmental regulations. Couple that with the intentions of Biden to reinstate environmental regulations and even develop new ones relevant to his efforts to fight climate change, and you have many feeling safer sticking to a Trump presidency within the farming and agriculture industry.

Over the past few years, farmers and farm workers across the United States have been hit hard, facing unprecedented financial difficulties linked to China's tariffs, historic floods and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these challenges , new information reveals that most farmers are not blaming President Trump and are planning to vote for him again in the coming election instead.

85 percent said they plan to vote for Trump to be re-elected to a second term in November, according to a Farm Journal survey of 5,000 U.S. farmers. Just 12% said they were preparing to vote for Joe Biden, although approximately 3% were still undecided. Other polls measuring the pulse of farmers at the election indicate similar broad leads for Trump, with many greater than they were in 2016.
